The Battle of Blood River

16th December 1838 the Zulu’s attacked the Laager with a force of 10 000 to 15 000 warriors against 150 defenders by the Ncome (Buffalo) River, which had led into, the bloodiest battle seen by the Voortrekkers and Zulus alike. Giving the battle its name The Battle of Blood River as the river flowed red with the blood of the fallen.
