If you enjoy nature as well as history this is the tour for you. We start the tour off by visiting some of the top Battlefields in Kwa Zulu Natal and end off with a couple of days in a Private Game Reserve.

Day 1

Your guide will collect you from Johannesburg and from there make the way down to Dundee, where we will be starting our tour. Here we will book into Sneezewood B&B and if time permitting make our way down to Talana Museum, which lies on the Talana Battlefield - the site of one of the first clashes between the British and Boers in the Anglo-Boer War, there are 17 buildings dedicated to the subjects as diverse as war and agriculture, mining, industry and domestic life.

Day 2 Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift


After breakfast we will head back in time and live days gone by. We will be joined by a Battlefield specialist and visit the two Battlefields that have made this area famous, Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift. These 2 encounters between the Zulu’s and the mighty British Empire – Isandlwana the greatest defeat Britain ever suffered from a native force. Rorke’s Drift on the other hand, holds the record for the most Victoria Crosses ever awarded in a single encounter

Day 3 Spionkop and Ladysmith Siege Museum 

Today we will carry on enjoying the Battlefields and make our way to the Battle site of Spionkop. The Battle of Spionkop was fought on the hilltop 35km away from Ladysmith on 23 -24 January 1900. During the Second Boer War. We will also make our way to the Ladysmith Siege Museum. A small museum detailing the battles and history of the Siege. The museum was opened in 1985 and holds documents related to the Siege and Boer War.

Please note: Ladysmith Siege Museum is closed on a Sunday, If tour day does falls on a Sunday we will swap it with Day 2 and we will then do Day 2 as Day 3.


Day 4 Battle of Elandslaagte and Nambiti Condervancy


Today we head off to Battlefield of Elandslaagte. The Battle of Elandslaagte was a battle of the Second Boer War, and one of the few clear-cut tactical victories won by the British during that conflict but however due to British retreating afterwards threw away there advantage. We will then be making our way to Nambiti Conservancy where you will be staying for the remainder of your trip. Nambiti is a private Big Five bush retreat set on 20,000 acres of Bushveld. Nambiti is the only reserve in the region with the Big 5 and also currently has over thirty species of game including Cheetah, Hyena, Giraffe, Hippo, Kudu and Eland. It has an incredible biodiversity and is also home to several rare bird species.

Day 5 - 6 Nambiti Game Reserve


For the next few days you will be awakened with an early wake up call and start the day off with a 3hour morning game drives in an open safari vehicle, we return to the lodge for breakfast. And spend the rest of the morning relaxing around the pool. There are also a number of other activities that may interest you such as billiard and tennis, as well as Big Cat tracking. In the afternoon you have a choice of either another open safari vehicle game drive or go on a bushwalk with your ranger.



Day 7 End


Today you will enjoy your last morning game drive before we make our to Johannesburg where we will drop you at the airport and bid you farewell
